Weil Music Institute at Carnegie Hall Communities LinkUP! Program
The Communities LinkUP! program provides fourth grade students of the Fort Worth Independent School District and their teachers the opportunity to infuse symphonic music into their curriculum. The LinkUP! program takes students on a journey inside the construction of a musical work. Students learn the ways in which composers use theme and variation to create their compositions. Through participation in selected works, students experience different ways of listening to music. The program will culminate in two performances in February 2008, in which students will answer questions, sing, and play recorder to demonstrate the concepts they have learned.

In School Performances
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Neighborhood Arts Program of the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, performs a series of free full orchestra and small ensemble concerts each season for children at schools in the north, east, and south neighborhoods of Fort Worth. These entertaining educational concerts provide children from underserved areas the opportunity to experience live orchestral music in their own schools. Six full orchestra and twenty small ensemble concerts will be presented during the 2007-2008 concert season.

Peter and the Wolf
One of the world's great fairy tales, Peter and the Wolf, performed by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and Metropolitan Classical Ballet, is an enchantingly simple story of an adventurous boy and his bravery in trapping the wolf. Presented by the Children's Education Program of Performing Arts Fort Worth, this presentation demonstrates the many ways that a story can be told. Prior to attending the program, second grade students will read a simplified version of Peter and the Wolf and learn to identify instruments of the orchestra both aurally and visually. Copland and the Common Man: John Henry and Abraham Lincoln
American History In American Music
Presented in cooperation with the Children's Education Program of Performing Arts Fort Worth for fifth grade students, this program presents Aaron Copland as the quintessential American composer who captured the optimistic spirit and rhythm of his homeland in music and used it as a homage to our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. This educational presentation features curricular connections in American historical and cultural heritage, evaluation of musical elements, and language arts/writing.
