DIEGO LUZURIAGA
Responsorio*

D’ALBERT
Cello Concerto in C Major, Op. 20

SHOSTAKOVICH
Symphony No. 10 in E Minor, Op. 93

* This work will not be performed during the Casual Chic Friday concert. Instead, enjoy 30 minutes of free entertainment in the main lobby starting at 6:45 p.m.

Most symphonic concerts include at least one work designated as “People’s Choice,” chosen by our patrons through an audience survey.

The driving rhythms of Luzuriaga’s Responsorio are inspired by the folk music of his native Ecuador. Then FWSO Principal Cellist Karen Basrak takes center stage to perform D’Albert’s poetic concerto. One of Shostakovich’s most acclaimed works, the Tenth Symphony was a personal triumph for the composer and is considered a tour de force for the orchestra.
